Takle Eye Group is proud to partner with the nonprofit agency Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) to help provide low vision services to our community. CVI is Georgia’s largest comprehensive, fully accredited private facility providing rehabilitation services for the blind and visually impaired.
Any person who is living with a loss of daily function due to vision loss is a candidate to benefit from low vision rehabilitation. Common issues are difficulty with daily tasks such as reading, cooking, managing money, watching TV, driving, using computers / phones, navigating safely at home or in the community.
Every month, Takle Eye Group hosts a monthly Low Vision Clinic in cooperation with CVI, serving people of all ages and all degrees of visual loss.
A visit to a CVI Low Vision Clinic involves a comprehensive evaluation from a low vision optometrist and occupational therapist, specially trained to treat patients with vision loss. All aspects of activities of daily living are evaluated to identify and conquer everyday challenges. Patients learn how to use magnifiers and other optical and non-optical aids that will enhance independence. Patients are also connected to a network of further resources that can help improve their quality of life, including orientation and mobility skills, assistive technology training, instruction in activities of daily living by a certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist, and many other strategies to maximize independence and quality of life.
