Andrew Coggin MD Comprehensive Ophthalmologist/Cataract/LASIK Surgeon
Dr. Andrew Coggin obtained his BS in Microbiology and BA in Spanish from the University of Florida, where he was a member of the UF Honors Program. He obtained his MD from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He entered active duty service in the Army through the Health Professions Scholarship Program. He then completed his medical internship and ophthalmology residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
After residency, he spent four years serving as an active duty ophthalmologist at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. From 2019-2020, he was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq as the sole military ophthalmologist in the region. He comes to Takle Eye having performed thousands of LASIK procedures on America’s greatest heroes. His skills also include no stitch, no injection cataract surgery with premium lenses, PRK, ICL, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
Dr. Coggin’s lovely wife Melissa is a meteorologist from Kennesaw and his father is from Newnan. His grandmother is a graduate of Mary Persons High School, class of ’48, and still resides with his grandfather close by in Newnan. He and his wife are thrilled to be returning home to join Takle Eye Group.
