Takle Eye Group seeks to provide the best possible contact lenses and related services to our patients. Our Contact Lens Department offers all contact lens services at competitive prices. We fit all soft and gas permeable lenses, including tinted, toric, multifocal, aphakic, keratoconic, and therapeutic lenses.
We also provide custom lenses to correct glare from deformed pupils or to mask cosmetically unacceptable eye deformities. The close working relationship between ophthalmologists, optometrists, and contact lens technicians ensures the best fit with the proper lenses for your eyes.
Meet Dr. Gandhi
Ruchi Gandhi, OD knew from the start that she was going to pursue a medical degree. As an undergraduate at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, 
she shadowed dentists, providers with Children’s Hospital at UAB, and other care specialists of all kinds. Dr. Gandhi worked long hours trying to pin down the exact sort of practice she would enjoy most.
As it turned out, the answer lay right on her nose. Dr. Gandhi has needed corrective lenses since her youth – she first found out when she failed her driver’s exam. After a little research and some time shadowing optometrists, she saw that optometry was the field for her. She graduated from UAB with her Doctor of Optometry degree.
Dr. Gandhi loves that she can dramatically improve the quality of life for her patients, some of whom don’t even realize their need for care. She also likes how quickly common eye ailments can be diagnosed in the clinic, often without any invasive diagnostic procedures.
Dr. Gandhi’s clinical work will include routine eye exams, contact lens fittings, diabetic monitoring, treatment of common eye diseases, and referral for advanced treatment. She is a member of both the Georgia Optometric and American Optometric Associations, as well as a registered InfantSee provider.
Dr. Gandhi has participated in many community service activities, and she has also traveled to countries in need, such as Uganda and Belize, to provide health care. She loves travel, and in her free time enjoys exploring Atlanta and experiencing everything the city has to offer.
Dr. Gandhi speaks both English and Gujarati.
Contact Lens FAQ’s
Can I purchase lenses from Takle Eye Group if I am not an existing patient?
No. You would need to schedule an eye examination and a separate contact lens evaluation with one of our ophthalmologists or optometrists in order to purchase lenses from us.
What if I have been fit elsewhere, and I am coming to see you for the first time?
If you are coming for the first time for a contact lens evaluation and already wear contact lenses, you should bring any information you have from your previous doctor, as well as the name, power, and base curve of the lenses you wear now.
How long does a fitting take, and is it part of an eye exam?
A first fit takes about an hour and is not part of a regular eye exam.
How often do I need to be seen by the doctor?
If you are a contact lens wearer, we require a comprehensive eye exam and a separate contact lens evaluation once a year.
Can my contact lens order be mailed to me?
Yes. We charge regular postal mailing fee to ship regular mail.
Can I order my contacts online?
Yes, we have our own contact lens order form that is secure and allows for you to play a credit card order and have it either shipped to your door or allowed to be picked up.
Is a contact lens fitting covered by my insurance?
Contact lens fittings are not covered by most insurance plans. There are a few vision plans that will cover some of the visit and a few that give a discount on the lenses themselves. Coverage for medically necessary contact lenses varies widely among insurance plans. Check with your insurance company to see what kind of coverage you have.
What if I get fit and then decide I don’t want to purchase contact lenses?
We charge one fee that includes the initial fitting and followup visits. If you come in for only one visit and then decide not to purchase lenses, we may reimburse you for part of the fitting fee.
What if I have a problem with the lenses? Are they returnable?
With disposable lenses we give trial lenses with which to fit you, so you won’t have to buy a supply until we are sure the prescription is correct. For most other lenses there is a 60 day period in which we can return lenses if they are defective. If for some reason you need to exchange a disposable lens box, we can do that as long as the box is unopened.
